The folks at Corbin Health and Rehabilitation Center made sure to cover themselves in green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day (and to avoid being pinched-ouch!). Residents and staff wore shamrock shaped glasses and necklaces. Some even put shamrocks in their pockets as a last resort. And it wouldn’t be a holiday without treats. Green cupcakes and St. Patrick’s Day-themed cookies were all enjoyed by everyone in the facility before some headed to the parade.
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17 and is in observance of the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Originally, the holiday began as a feast day in the 17th century but evolved into a variety of festivals across the world celebrating Irish culture with parades, special foods, music and a barrage of everything green.
